Cheap Automotive Windshields

Just wanted to comment on this site and the great service you guys are offering to the public.  I used your service to shop around for a replacement windshield for my daughters college car…which I do not want to put much more money into.

I was able to compare multiple prices from multiple installers offering cheap automotive windshields in my area from one simple website. That is very nice, since I am on a super tight budget and know nothing about windshields to begin with.

Joe came to my house and replaced my daughters windshield while she was on spring break, which saved me a ton of time.  The price was lower than I was expecting, the installation was included and he was super fast and friendly.

Thanks in advance for your service

What To Remember When Buying Automotive Windshield

An automotive windshield is a glass panel attached to the front of your vehicle covering the driver and the passenger.  It is manufactured in such a way that it supports the structure of the vehicle in order to protect people inside from wind, airborne debris, sunlight and dirt. It is made up of two laminated glass glued together by a transparent piece of plastic called polyvinyl butyrate or PVB. This plastic lining keeps the glass from shattering in case of accident or collision by acting as a cushion, and this is what you see as a sort of spider-web appearance when windshields get broken.

When buying automotive windshield, remember to take note of its class, which are original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and aftermarket. OEM windshields are those made by the same company that built your car. It has passed all the quality tests made by the Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Aftermarket parts, on the other hand, though cheaper, usually fall short in one or all of the following: thickness, tolerance and quality.

An automotive windshield is your first line of defense against accidents, so repairs or replacements must be done immediately. Repairs of automotive windshield usually cost around $50 for the first chip and then an additional $10 per additional chip. More expensive to repair are cracks, costing about $100 to $200, or even more. Replacing a windshield would cost you anywhere from $350 for non-OEM to $1,000 if OEM windshield is used.

Even high-quality automotive windshield would not last long if not maintained properly, so look for good windshield wipers to keep it clean from debris, bird dropping, rain, snow and sleet. A bug shield is another accessory that provides further protection to your windshield glass. Also, always be gentle with your windshield when keeping the ice out as it could damage or create cracks. These small things could surely help you maximize the use of your automotive windshield.
